Events

ISC2 Alberta aims to educate members by offering high-value cybersecurity learning opportunities, while also engaging sponsors through meaningful partnerships that benefit both the chapter and its supporters. Our focus is building connections by facilitating networking among members, industry professionals, and vendors, and increasing visibility by effectively advertising events to attract new members and industry attention.

Our objective is to strengthen the cybersecurity community by establishing ISC2 Alberta as a trusted resource for security professionals. Additionally, event representation should be balanced across both Edmonton and Calgary regions, ensuring that networking opportunities are equally accessible to members in each area.

BSides Calgary is back - May 25-26

BSides Calgary is a community-driven information security conference designed for professionals, students, and enthusiasts who want practical, real‑world insight into cybersecurity. Unlike large, commercial conferences, BSides focuses on authentic knowledge sharing, accessibility, and meaningful connection within the local and regional security community.

Attendees gain exposure to high-quality technical talks, hands-on discussions, and emerging security research across topics such as defensive security, offensive techniques, governance, privacy, cloud, and risk management. Sessions are curated to be relevant and actionable, making them valuable whether you’re hands-on technical staff, a security leader, or early in your career.

One of BSides Calgary’s greatest strengths is its community-first approach. The conference fosters open conversation between speakers and attendees, encouraging learning through dialogue rather than sales pitches. This creates an environment where questions are welcomed, ideas are exchanged freely, and attendees leave with insights they can immediately apply.

ISC2 Alberta is a community partner for this event that offers practical learning, genuine connections, and community impact—making it one of the most valuable security events in Alberta.
