Education Newsletter
1 Welcome
Welcome to the ISC2 Chapter - Alberta - Education Committee, where we promote professional development and security education to our community and the public at large. We also collaborate with other security education institutions and security related student clubs.
We are excited to start another ISC2 Alberta Chapter’s education programs and activities. Now that our systems have stabilized somewhat, we are ready to support volunteers who would like to take the lead on our existing programs and new programs. Your ideas are welcome, and we will do our best to support them if we can.
If you would like to volunteer to take the lead on any of the initiatives below, please do not hesitate to email education@isc2chapter-alberta.org. You can also email us if you have questions and exciting ideas.

3 YouTube®
Thanks to various guest speakers and panellists who allowed us to record them, we managed to create a few videos for our YouTube® channel here: (19854) ISC2 Alberta - YouTube. All of these took place during 2025 Cyber Security Month in October.
4 Educational Event
One of our main goals is to schedule a special event or to support a major ISC2 Alberta Chapter event. For example, we may organize a one-day educational event or support our ISC2 Alberta Chapter's upcoming conference (To Be Determined).
5 Safe and Secure Online (SSO)
We are very excited to have Sridevi Sadhineni, CISSP, volunteering to take the lead on this program. So far, we have pre-registered our ISC2 Alberta Chapter with the ISC2 SSO programs. Additionally, Sridevi and her team will take the lead to promote SSO to the various communities where we have volunteers, or online for remote areas within Alberta. More information will be coming soon.
6 Professional Governance Act (Bill-40)
This is a long-term strategic program to elevate the ISC2 Alberta Chapter as a cybersecurity professional association on par with other professions such as accountants, lawyers, doctors, and engineers. We are looking for anyone passionate about legalizing our profession in Alberta and, possibly, across Canada. If you are interested in governance, legislation, and related topics, this is the program for you.
7 Member security programs
In this portfolio, we will have various programs to help members learn some practical industry cybersecurity skills. It will be a partnership between industry and our chapter. Industry partners will get some free advice while our members get an opportunity to put some experience on their resume and curriculum vitae. Some program suggestions are listed below. Ideas are always welcome. Let us know if you would like to take the lead in one of these programs.
1. Threat and Risk Assessment (TRA)
2. Vulnerability Assessment (VA)
3. Penetration Testing (PenTesting)
4. Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)
5. Etc.
8 Mentoring Program
Upon many requests, we would like to start a mentoring program. Since this will be our first-ever mentoring program, new creative ideas are most welcome. If you have experience with a mentoring program or have managed one and would like to volunteer, please reach out to us.
9 Regular Presentation
Regular presentations are an opportunity to empower our members and the public with cybersecurity knowledge. Our members will have the opportunity to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE). The current plan is to hold a monthly online presentation, panel discussion, or demonstration. We are open to other modalities, such as in-person presentations. Presenters, speakers, and demonstrators are welcome to email education@isc2chapter-alberta.org to participate.
10 Cyber Security Month, October 2026
This Cyber Security Month is very special to us. It is a time when we can promote our chapter and our profession to everyone. Planning has not started, and fresh ideas are always welcome. We managed to hold 9 events last October. It was a great opportunity to learn and network.
